When cargo is short, damaged or contaminated, we attend promptly for owners, charterers and P&I Clubs, establish the cause and provide impartial reports that support claim defence, settlement or litigation.

P&I Support
- Prompt attendance on behalf of owners, charterers and P&I Clubs following a cargo shortage, contamination or damage incident
- Review of cargo documentation, including bills of lading, ullage and sounding records, pumping logs and certificates of quantity and quality
- Reconstruction of cargo operations to establish the chain of custody and the point at which a loss or deviation occurred
- Independent assessment of shortage claims, separating real physical losses from apparent (paper) losses
- Technical advice to support claim defence, negotiation and settlement
- Liaison with correspondents, surveyors, laboratories, terminals and legal counsel

Cargo Contamination
- Investigation into the cause and source of cargo contamination by our Superintendents and Chemists
- Inspection of cargo tanks, lines, pumps, valves and shore facilities for cleanliness and cross-contamination risk
- Witnessing of sampling, sealing and retention of samples, with chain-of-custody records maintained throughout
- Coordination of laboratory analysis and interpretation of results against contractual specifications
- Advice on mitigation, segregation, reprocessing and commercial resolution of off-specification cargo
- Detailed, impartial reporting suitable for use in litigation and arbitration
